ISN Renal Pathology Bursaries

Advance your expertise in renal pathology

In many low-resource settings, limited diagnostic expertise hampers early detection and effective treatment of kidney disease. ISN Renal Pathology Bursaries empower pathologists, nephrologists, and trainees to strengthen their expertise through education, networking, and exposure to the latest developments in renal pathology.

What the bursaries support

The bursaries provide funding to attend major renal pathology events, including international conferences, workshops, and specialized courses. These opportunities:

  • Facilitate knowledge exchange and skills development
  • Support research dissemination and visibility
  • Build professional networks across regions

Each bursary may include a contribution toward event registration and/or travel and accommodation costs to help recipients participate in high-impact educational activities. The program is part of the ISN Renal Pathology Working Group’s broader mission to strengthen renal pathology globally, with a focus on low-, lower-middle and upper-middle-income countries.

In 2026, attendance to the following key renal pathology events will be covered by the bursaries:
  • Renal pathology for the nephrologist course, Imperial College London, in person attendance, London, UK, March 19-20, 2026
  • Renal Pathology WCN course at WCN’26, in person attendance, Yokohama, Japan, March 28, 2026
  • The Columbia Renal Biopsy Course 2026, online attendance, July 2026 (date to be confirmed)
  • European Renal Pathology Course (includes a 2-weeks mini-sabbatical), in person attendance, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, July 2026 (date to be confirmed)
  • 19th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Renal & Transplantation Pathology (ISRTPCON), in person attendance, India, September 2026 (date and location to be confirmed)

We are no longer accepting applications for 2026. The next application cycle for bursaries will open in August/September 2026.
